Artist Tezuko Yumoto creates these one-of-a-kind Hina dolls called "Hinamame" with a delicate sense of color.
Born from a desire to cherish ancient Japanese traditions, customs, and aesthetics,
these Kimekomi Hina dolls are as adorable and round as beans.
For the kimonos, high-quality vintage fabrics, or "kofu,"
used until the early Showa period (pre-1945), are utilized.
These are rare and hard-to-obtain items, featuring colors, patterns, and textures not found today,
such as Edo chirimen, delicate embroidery, and fine shibori.
The gentle expressions of the Hina dolls and Inubako (dog boxes)
are carefully hand-painted by a specialist doll face artist.
Inubako have long been used in Hina Matsuri decorations
as auspicious items wishing for safe childbirth and good health.
The auspicious-themed OHAJIKI (traditional Japanese glass marbles)
were created one by one from molds using stone clay.
When displayed on a high stand with a beeswax finish, they become richly expressive.
The oil lamps (bonbori) painted in vermilion,
the imperial stands bordered with vintage fabric from the prestigious Takimura Bijutsu Orimono,
and the mari (balls) with each lustrous silk thread carefully wound.
These delicately crafted small props add vibrant charm.
For the golden folding screen, special order gold paper from Rekiseisha was used,
a company whose unique foil-stamping technology is employed by GUCCI, HERMES,
and various museums worldwide.
The delicate diffuse reflection beautifully enhances the Hina dolls.
The back features carefully selected Chiyogami paper, giving it an auspicious impression.
It is recommended not only as a gift for a child's first Hina Matsuri,
but also as a reward for yourself or as a seasonal decoration.
The custom-made paulownia wood box
can be used not only as a storage box but also as a display stand.
Paulownia wood, excellent in insect-proofing, decay resistance, and moisture control,
carefully protects the delicate Hina dolls.
Why not display them casually like seasonal flowers
and create your own stylish Hina Matsuri?
