Artist Yoshiko Yumoto creates with a delicate sense of color, one-of-a-kind Hina dolls, "Hinamame." These small Hina dolls cherish ancient Japanese traditions and beautiful customs, yet can be easily displayed and enjoyed in modern living spaces. The charm of "Hinamame" lies in the meticulous handiwork down to every detail. The plump, bean-like form of these Kimekomi Hina dolls is endearing. For their kimonos, we use rare antique fabrics carefully passed down from the Meiji and Taisho eras to the early Showa period. Edo chirimen (crepe) and high-quality fabrics with delicate embroidery and shibori were discovered all over Japan. Their unique colors, patterns, and textures add an elegant touch of color. The lily pattern on the princess's kimono is an auspicious design suitable for a celebration. The gentle expressions of the Hina dolls and inubako (dog boxes) are carefully hand-painted by a master doll painter. The auspicious motif of the ohajiki (glass marbles) was individually molded from stone clay and then painted with soft layers of color. The base is made from solid cherry wood and finished with beeswax, enhancing the beauty of its natural texture. We also recommend adding accessories such as folding screens and hagoita (battledore paddles) to create your preferred display. This season, we have prepared two types of accessory sets available for separate purchase. By gradually collecting them over the years, you can enjoy changing displays and cherish them for a long time. "Hinamame" blends seamlessly with any interior, whether French or Nordic. They are delivered in a custom-made paulownia wood box. Paulownia wood, which is excellent in insect, rot, and moisture resistance, and is flame-retardant, carefully protects the delicate Hina dolls.
