John Derian Desk Cup Shiren

John Derian was founded by a designer who is also a collector of antique paper.
The delicate works feature vintage art books, plants, insects, messages and more inspired by his own collection.
Each piece is carefully handmade in their New York studio using a technique called decoupage, which involves attaching cut-outs of paper or fabric to glass or other surfaces.

The painting wraps around the entire cup, giving it a different look from every angle.
No corner has been cut even on the bottom, which features a pattern that matches the design.
The plants, which represent pressed flowers, are drawn flat and two-dimensionally.
The balance with the English letters is stylish.
Use it as an object as is, as a pen holder, a pot cover, a small item holder, etc.

*Since the material is paper, it cannot be washed with water.
