If you're a sweet-toothed Paris lover,
you've probably heard of "Le Comptoir," the cake shop at the Ritz Paris.
It's a popular cake shop located on the same street as Chanel's historic flagship store on Rue Cambon.
It was awarded "World's Best Patisserie" in La Liste 2024 (an award that evaluates restaurants worldwide), and
Chef Pâtissier François Perret is undoubtedly one of the most successful pastry chefs right now.

Le Comptoir has opened a branch on the Left Bank in Paris, the Sèvres store.
I'd like to give you a tour of the store with photos taken at a press event before its opening at the end of May this year.
First, as its name suggests, it's on Rue de Sèvres, directly opposite the department store Le Bon Marché!
If you're going to open a store on the Left Bank, you couldn't ask for a better location.
Guests at Hotel Lutetia will surely be delighted to use it.

"It's like the Ritz pâtisserie came to everyone in Paris,"
François Perret told me, explaining the intention behind opening the Sèvres store.
It might also help alleviate the crowds at the main store on Rue Cambon.
Please note that the Sèvres store is for takeout only.
But it also has a unique selling point: original sweets exclusive to the Sèvres store!
Here it is!

It looks like an éclair at first glance, doesn't it?
It's actually a trompe-l'oeil cake,
and as you can see from the cross-section, it's an entremet that takes many steps to create.
Among the three types, the coffee flavor is a limited-edition sweet exclusive to the Sèvres store.
I'm a coffee person when it comes to éclairs, and I still liked the coffee flavor best in this entremet.
The coffee used is from Lomi, a famous coffee roaster in Paris.
Paris is also experiencing a specialty coffee boom, with a surprising increase in stores serving high-quality, ethical coffee.
The coffee roaster at Lomi is, surprisingly, a MOF, one of France's best craftsmen.
François Perret chose coffee from a craftsman who shares the Ritz's vision.
I was also surprised that I could drink oat milk cappuccinos made with authentic coffee shop techniques at Le Comptoir, so I tried one right away, and it was a high-quality, delicately flavored coffee!
The vanilla éclair-style entremet is packed with Madagascar vanilla.
I don't think there are many stores that offer such a strong vanilla flavor. It's truly luxurious.
The chocolate has zero of that typical heavy chocolate feeling; it's light yet rich in flavor.
Good things are always like this, which is interesting.

All types of François Perret's signature madeleines are on display.
My recommendation is the citron. But they're all delicious, so if possible, I'd like you to try all of them!
He is also skilled in trompe-l'oeil creations,
and it's also his trademark, as this marble cake shows.
It's an entremet with a slice of marble cake glazed with a marble pattern!

You can also buy cute Ritz Paris souvenirs.
Next time, I definitely have to try the matcha latte!
A French pastry chef was preparing it with a chasen behind the counter.
It's truly a remarkable era.
Please stop by when you're shopping at Bon Marché!
Especially the citron madeleine, I'm confident you won't regret it!

Next time, I hope to bring you more information that captures the current vibe of Paris.
Until then,
À bientôt!
