Summer in Paris, the terrace is alive and well this year!
Even though Japan has entered the rainy season,
I hear that the hot days are continuing.
How are you all doing?
Paris is the summer of 2020 after corona,
Like every year, terraces are popping up all over the city,
I am deeply relieved.
As I told you in the previous Paris Newsletter,
Restaurants in Paris are restricted to "terrace seats only",
We are reopening from June 2nd.
From June 15th, the restriction will be gone,
It's finally a life where you can enjoy eating out like before.
This time, we will take a photo of the terrace, which is a summer tradition in Paris,
I'll give you a few.
First of all, on June 2nd, the day the terrace was lifted,
Place d'Italie (Piazza Italia), from the terrace of Café Jules around 8pm.
Cafe Jules, which is always crowded,
It appears in French novelist Michel Houellebecq's latest work "Serotonin".
Fans will definitely want to visit.
I can't tell from the picture, but
So that the interval between each group opens more than usual,
A table is provided.
The rate of customers wearing masks is very low, but...
Next, on June 2nd, just after 8:00 p.m., the Butte Caille area.
This is the momentum that the whole city will become a pedestrian paradise,
A lot of people were out.
It's not enough to put out a table on the sidewalk,
There are even tables on the cobblestone driveway!
And it's no longer just an outdoor table or chair.
You're putting your indoor sofa outside!
It also
It was an indescribably relaxing performance.
Now let's talk about the interior for a moment.
Like putting upholstered cushions for the living room on a garden chair,
If you dare to use indoor interiors that are not normally used outside, you will feel very luxurious.
One of Parisienne's favorite vacation destinations,
in Marrakech, Morocco
Traditionally, the terrace is covered with a splendid carpet, and a splendid sofa and cushions are placed on top of it.
If my house has a terrace or a wooden deck,
I want to incorporate such an esprit.
For your reference, here is a photo of the vegetarian restaurant Creature, which appears on the roof of Galeries Lafayette during the summer only.
Marrakech style, a good example of outdoor interiors.
Here in Butte Caille,
As an area with a nostalgic retro atmosphere,
Popular with young Parisiennes and Parisians.
Young people overflowing from the terrace,
It was a picnic state in the square with the fountain.
This kind of free mood is Paris! is not it.
Leave the Butte Cailles and travel to the Seine.
On the Seine bank near the François Mitterrand National Library,
Many terraces are lined up every summer.
Among them, the most famous one is here, the terrace of Petit Vans.
The Petit Van
A live house and restaurant on a ship anchored on the Seine River,
On the shore, as you can see,
It has a very colorful terrace.
It was a sunny Sunday afternoon,
Parisiennes and Parisians were relaxing in their own way.
While paying attention to infection control,
After all, to give up the pleasure of sunbathing,
They can't!
I'm going to repeat it, but I'm going to have a good time with infectious diseases.
About two weeks after the terrace was lifted,
I also enjoyed the terrace on several occasions.
First of all, it will make you feel supremely happy,
I tasted "simple draft beer on the terrace".
It is not a mug like in Japan, but a glass,
Single item without ordering snacks.
Champagne is always delicious, of course,
Draft beer on the terrace on a sunny day is also hard to throw away.
Reading on the terrace like this,
The time to write something down in a notebook,
The best luxury you can get for just a few euros.
Many people (like me) may say, "I like Paris because I can be happy without a lot of money."
On another day, two friends and I had an Asian lunch.
Vietnamese food called "bobung"
As many of you may know,
This is popular with Parisienne.
It's healthy, it's one plate, but it's well-balanced,
Moreover, it seems that the reason for its popularity is that the volume is sufficient.
On a sunny day, eating an Asian lunch under a parasol on the terrace was a treat.
On another day, for the first time in a long time, I spent time on the terrace of a café until after midnight.
Ordered a carafe of Burgundy white, with a cheese platter.
For the cheese platter, Brittany butter and
It was served with Bonne Maman jam.
It's an unpretentious cheese platter from an unpretentious store, but I couldn't get enough of it after the restrictions on going out! !
It's a little chilly on this day,
There was a stove on the terrace.
Like this, Paris is restarting.
move freely and
I hope the day will come when you can enjoy traveling freely.
See you again, Abianto!
