About Astier de Villatte

The first time I saw Astier tableware was in Paris Saint-Germain. It was in a corner of a clothing store for older people.

The store was still in the early days of Astier, and I couldn't see it being in trouble. It was a boutique run by the lady next to Benoit's house. It seems that the neighbor is gone now, but he seems to be very grateful as a benefactor.

Now there are many collectors, and there was a time when Astier, who became famous, had a hard time~~ I think that's probably why I always collaborate with young talented designers. I'm rooting for you. Nathalie Lete, who writes the patterns of the Fleur series, is a representative of that. Some people disappear after a few seasons, but it's also a way to repay the kindness you've received from others. It's also a way to give back to young people by doing the same thing. It feels like a very mature culture.

The name Astire de Villatte, with de in between, seems to be the name of a former aristocrat. It is said that he started by remaking old tableware that was in his castle built around the 14th century. All my brothers and cousins ​​are artists. My cousin Jean-Baptiste is the designer of the collection Legard, I am the owner.

Many of Astier's tableware are designed by Jean. Robinson's nadeshiko pattern is known for tableware in Astier. In Regal, it is used in linen motifs such as tablecloths and luncheons. When I think about it like this, I really think that it was a long relationship. There is something like a piece, and there is unevenness in the glazing, As you use it, small cracks will appear and it will change.
