Artist Satoko Yumoto creates these one-of-a-kind Hina dolls called "Hinamame" with a delicate sense of color.
Cherishing Japan's ancient traditions and beautiful customs, these small, five-figure Hina dolls can be casually displayed and enjoyed in modern living spaces.
The charm of "Hinamame" lies in the handcrafted details.
These kimekomi Hina dolls have an adorable, plump, bean-like form.
For their costumes, we use rare antique fabrics carefully passed down from the Meiji and Taisho eras to the early Showa period.
These high-quality fabrics, such as Edo chirimen, and those with delicate embroidery and shibori, were discovered throughout Japan.
Their unique colors, patterns, and textures add an elegant touch.
The gentle expressions of the Hina dolls and Inubako (dog boxes) are meticulously hand-painted by a specialized doll face artist.
The auspicious motif-adorned o-hajiki (glass marbles) are each molded from stone clay and painted with soft, layered colors.
When displayed on beeswax-finished takatsuki (pedestal trays), they become even more expressive.
The hagoita (battledore) serves as a charm to ward off evil spirits.
The braided kumihimo gently invites happiness.
The Chigibako, an auspicious item from Shiba Daijingu Shrine dating back to the Edo period, is still popular today for bringing good relationships.
While not traditionally Hina doll accessories, we have tailored these small, three-tiered boxes adorned with lovely wisteria flowers to fit the "Hinamame" aesthetic.
The vermilion-lacquered bombori (paper lanterns),
the imperial stands bordered with antique fabric from the prestigious Takimura Art Textiles,
the mari (balls) carefully wound with each lustrous silk thread,
and the large and small awasegai (clamshells) with their elaborate lacquerwork and craftsmanship.
These delicately crafted miniature props add a vibrant touch.
For the gold screen, we specially ordered gold paper from Rekiseisha, loved by people worldwide, including GUCCI, HERMES, and renowned hotels and museums.
Rekiseisha's unique foil-stamping technique, inheriting ancient Japanese aesthetics, maintains its dignified brilliance even over time.
"Hinamame" blends seamlessly with any interior, be it French, Nordic, or other styles.
They are a perfect gift for a child's first Hina Matsuri,
but many also choose them as a reward for themselves or as seasonal decor to be enjoyed like flower arrangements.
They are delivered in a custom-made paulownia wood box.
The insect-proof, anti-corrosion, moisture-resistant, and flame-retardant paulownia wood carefully protects the delicate Hina dolls.
Not only is it a storage box, but it also serves as a beautiful display stand, and is easy to put away and take out.
It's wonderful to be able to display them without fuss.
Why not subtly display them in your entryway or on a cabinet to create your own stylish Hina Matsuri?
